Please identify the model numbers of the displays. Please test with BIOS .71 and .75 GOP to insure it isn't fixed there. Okay, display model is: nec multisync x462s now the question is, how do I know which BIOS version am I running? if I need to upgrade, how do I do that? where do I get the newer versions of the BIOS like the ones you mention? Okay I think I have v.71: MNW2CRB1.X64.0071.R30.1408121658 now how do I update to v.75 and where do I get it? Going to switch this from a firmware bug to a hardware bug. It's recently been discovered that a level shifter for the HDMI that we expected to be present in the SOC, is apparently not. This was discovered after some internal testing on the HDMI signals, and discovering the appropriate documentation about the level shifter. Once I've got approval to post the relevant pieces I'll add them here. RevA4 of the minnowmax is being updated with the missing level shifters. Updating assignee to new office e-mail address. Hello, I have two minnows running Yocto 1.7. The thing is that from time to time after rebooting, no image will display. The issue appears spontaneously and the board is not usable anymore. This is a firmware issue, since the UEFI is not displayed after reboot. I tried firmware version 0.74 and 0.76, by programming with a dediprog and same thing. As a hint, this freeze happens more frequent when the board is decoupled from mains without proper poweroff from OS(but it does happen also when properly shutdown, but indeed not that frequent). To give some clear numbers, in essence after about 20 times of power cycle with proper shutdown, it freezes and with mains decoupling while running, after about 15 times or less. In both cases, to reproduce the issue, one needs to stress a little bit the UEFI menu, by entering the UEFI and make small changes and after save them. Regards, Costin Hello, I am observing something new. I just flashed 0.76 on one Minnow, and without an external SATA SSD it boots, but when coupling such a device it doesn't anymore. After detaching the SSD it refuses to boot at all, having to re-flash the firmware. Costin So that this is noted in the bug. No, this is *NOT* a firmware bug as suggested by Costin above, this continues to be the described failure due to the missing level shifters on the differential pairs. Costin's description actually matches what you'd expect as changing resolutions / modes may change how much power is on those lines right now, so it's conceivable that during firmware nothing would output (levels too low) but the OS might show up (levels get close enough to right to trigger the monitor) The following tests were done with an HP ZR22w monitor and an A4 board. In each test the minitor starts in sleep mode. HDMI plugged in before power on: monitor wakes up on power on HDMI plugged in during UEFI shell: monitor wakes up when kernel starts HDMI plugged in after kernel starts: monitor does not wake up We are no longer tracking in Yocto Project Bugzilla MinnowBoard and MinnowBoard-MAX HW and firmware bugs. |
