I can reproduce it in my box. it should be a DSO linkage issue according to the log in my box: ./home/kyu3/work/qemuppc/tmp/sysroots/i686-linux/usr/libexec/ppc603e-poky-linux/gcc/powerpc-poky-linux/4.5.1/ld: ./.libs/libxorg. a(lt73-backtrace.o): undefined reference to symbol 'dladdr@@GLIBC_2.0' /home/kyu3/work/qemuppc/tmp/sysroots/i686-linux/usr/libexec/ppc603e-poky-linux/gcc/powerpc-poky-linux/4.5.1/ld: note: 'dladdr@@ GLIBC_2.0' is defined in DSO /home/kyu3/work/qemuppc/tmp/sysroots/qemuppc/lib/libdl.so.2 so try adding it to the linker command line I will work out a DSO linkage patch to explicitly specify the required lib. *** Bug 1098 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Have a draft patch, but need to verify in a machine that can reproduce this issue. patch in http://git.pokylinux.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky-contrib/log/?h=kyu3/dl-issue (In reply to comment #3) > Have a draft patch, but need to verify in a machine that can reproduce this > issue. > patch in > http://git.pokylinux.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky-contrib/log/?h=kyu3/dl-issue In my local machine : os : Ubuntu 10.10 x86_64 kernel : 2.6.35-28-generic #50 also can not reproduce this issue. git commit : 9bccbc5fbc71b331911b558a2ba15e0a6d0046b4 git branch : master steps: 1. set build env. 2. bitbake xserver-xf86-lite (In reply to comment #3) > Have a draft patch, but need to verify in a machine that can reproduce this > issue. > patch in > http://git.pokylinux.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky-contrib/log/?h=kyu3/dl-issue I came across this bug for virtex5 machine (powerpc 440) Forcing as suggested by Ke Yu patch http://git.pokylinux.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky-contrib/log/?h=kyu3/dl-issue Fixes the unresolved dl* symbols local machine info: os : Fedora 15 x86_64 kernel : 2.6.38.6-27 The root cause is that:
meta/site/powerpc-common has setting of
"
ac_cv_func_dlopen=${ac_cv_func_dlopen=yes}
lt_cv_dlopen_self=${lt_cv_dlopen_self=yes}
"
which cause autoconf will not detect dlopen availability, thus no "-ldl" in link stage, and cause unresolved dl* reference error.
http://git.pokylinux.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky/commit/?id=54568780fb464a076fa5b29f9f9b40ec4918ee93 fix this issue.
