For testing, please use the new player application on the desktop (gtk-play). Does the problem replicate if using that? No, media player displays just a green screen. Where can I fetch that file from? The only hit on Google for "ArchitectVideo.ogv" is https://archive.org/download/VideoSample-Video3/ArchitectVideo.ogv ... rest of the comment is assuming that's the right one. > EXPECTED OUTCOME: ogg file can be played without problem when libva is used > (or libogg) > > ACTUAL OUTCOME: the video file shows that it's playing but no image is shown > (the screen remains green). This works fine with gtk-play on a NUC ("core-image-sato" for "intel-corei7-64") so presumably issue is hardware specific. > The video plays using the command: > gst-launch playbin2 uri="file:///home/root/media/ArchitectVideo.ogv" > > But the performance is poor. CPU usage is minimal on the NUC. The video looks bad but that's because resolution is 400x300. See last comment Ross, It appears to me the question was answered. I have moved this from NEEDINFO. Reassigning to Saul as this is hardware-specific. There's a good chance this is effectively a duplicate of #6619. This issue is still present on poky build 2d09cb28f25080ed337d37d2d4381b846bbe6247, meta-intel f9738ec19d3b2864c0bd71b9bb3418d16e922a12 This will not be fixed for older hardware such as eMenlow, Minnowboard (rev1) and older NUCs as they use the EMGD driver and we are no longer supporting that. Video using the generic driver and X11 modules will not work on this hardware without that acceleration Relying on the last comment I'm changing the status of this issue as "Verified Wontfix". |
