Hi Garbriel, I am curious about your host configuration, we build this target regularly on our Autobuilder and local infrastructure and have not seen this failure with AM_NLS, I would like to get a better idea of your host configuration, can you send me the original configure script and also the build/config.log file (not the log.do_configure), along with the temp/run.do_configure script. While I do see the first suggestion of "Please add the files" Thanks I've been trying to reproduce it... and I can't find a way to reproduce it with poky and a qemu64 build. However... in the HAPPY CASE, building oprofileui-server causes gettext's do_populate_sysroot_setscene to run. The log for that task shows that it installs the m4 files (sysroot-destdir/usr/share/aclocal/*.m4) In the FAILING case, these files are missing from gettext's do_populate_sysroot_setscene log. When adding `inherit gettext', then gettext's do_package_setscene executes again, and seems to cause the m4 files to be installed (package/usr/share/aclocal/*.m4). I'm not sure why the aclocal files are missing from populate_sysroot_setscene in the failing case. Well since you have not been able to fully reproduce, we are going to close it at this time, if you come up with a reproducible case, please re-open this bug and we can then look into it in more detail. Steps to reproduce: $ cd path/to/poky $ rm -rf build $ . oe-init-build-env $ echo 'PREFERRED_VERSION_gettext = "0.16%"' >> conf/local.conf $ bitbake oprofileui-server Expected results: Build completes Actual results: Error messages as shown above Notes: 1. This is the non-GPL3 version of gettext. Our project pins these packages to the non-GPL3 version so that we develop with the same package versions that we actually deploy to users. 2. The problem may actually be in the packaging of gettext 0.16, since it doesn't seem to include the aclocal macros. In fact, it looks like it deletes them. The pinning of gettext was crucial information to help identify the issue. Actually the packaging of gettext is correct, I reviewed the commit that changed the packaging (removing the ac files) 9e10db5bdfe77c0ef2aff2f1cf89958b62c294a1. This commit points to the fact that oprofileui-server should really be inheriting gettext. Can you please confirm in your env that if you add gettext to the inherit it works correctly?
