Testing Env:    
Host: Ubuntu 10.10 x86_64
Kernel: 2.6.35-25-generic

When I click the 'X11VNC Server' icon, it is no response. And I can not connect it with a vnc client.

On the client:

However, I can run command line to start VNC server on the target:

And on the client, I can connect it successfully.

From your description I think it is not related with connectivity. The problem should be why x11vnc server is not started automatically and why x11vnc desktop icon is also not work when clicked.

Just for your reference, I could start x11vnc with command "x11vnc -display :0.0".

the default parameter "-gui tray=setpass -rfbport PROMPT" requires "wish" program installed.

Will send out a patch to remove them.
