Right now, devtool is quite good at building many python extensions.  It would be nice if we could extend it to support npm style packages for node as well so we have a more functional node runtime environment.  It would be especially nice if we could break out the metadata/template for these so that toher constrained types of packages could also be added to devtool's heuristic base in the future in a pluggable way.
