Reviewing the opkg-build script it didn't treat this as an fatal error also next calls echo >&2 for clean $? [1].

I don't know what is expected two questions came into my mind,

1.- What is expected to do on opkg-build script in this case, fails when found large uids into files?

2.- Now the failure of segfault detection is on do_package_qa is intended to move
this logic to do_package?

This problem is related to Host issue in this case CentOS 7 ls segfault.

I added a check into opkg-build for avoid continue the build process and catch the error at early stage,

Due to a current situation of opkg-utils maintainence i added the patch into the recipe [2].

Also i submitted the patch to google groups list [2].

that 'ls segfault' is something that should be investigated in the centos machine. It will likely fail in other processes too.

I agree but this issue didn't happen again (i reviewed errors.yp.org).
And may be the ls CentOS version have a bug already fixed in coreutils upstream,
you know CentOS uses old "stable" software.

I closed this bug because its a host error that we didn't see again.

I added a patch in opkg-utils to fail when host ls fails.

So, the code that checks UID cannot handle files with spaces and now the patch to opkg to fail has been pushed and it breaks those packages that have files with spaces in the names...

Could you say me an example of what package have spaces in names for reproduce the failure?

Initial error does not reproduce.
