Description Paul Eggleton 2016-04-05 03:12:52 UTC
At the moment by default when you run devtool build-image with one or more recipes in the workspace, you get all of the main packages from all of the recipes in the workspace included in the resulting image. Sometimes you may want to exclude packages or include more than just the main package, perhaps you may even want to include additional packages easily. We've recently added a command-line option to override which packages get added, but then of course you need to know the exact names of all of the packages you want to add, so it's not especially helpful.

I'm not 100% sure how we would improve on this but it does seem like we could for example leverage the work we've done in Toaster for image customisation. Whatever we do we need to be producing an image recipe with the package selection in it so that you don't have to specify that every time (as you do now if you want to customise it).

Still worth doing when we have the people available. -- YP bug review.
