wrong bug reopening
Comment 5 Jussi Kukkonen 2016-09-08 11:59:13 UTC
I can't reproduce this problem on any hardware I have but I've identified a bug that may be related.

MBPanelScalingImage2::size_allocate() implementation can end up calling gtk_widget_queue_resize() which will be ignored when called from size_allocate (as it could lead to a resize-loop). There are situations where this leads to widget not updating when it should update.

Many times this bug is not present until you unplug and then plug network cable. I just see that issue on previous meta-intel validation for 4.8 and that was the way to reproduce it.

Thanks, I see it now with a plug-unplug cycle.

The first drawn icon seems fine, then from the first icon change onward the icon is somehow drawn in the wrong location (or is made the wrong size). This buggy location/size is then used regardless of future icon changes.

commit 28ffbd4e560fccb6e8eb24dc735c0838e9bc7d39
Author: Jussi Kukkonen <jussi.kukkonen@intel.com>

matchbox-panel-2: Fix small systray icon drawing

Add patch to pack systray icons so that their drawing area is the
size they expect (otherwise GtkStatusIcon based systray items can
end up drawing "tiled", looking like 1.5 icons instead of a single
    icon).
