Description brian avery 2017-10-03 22:23:55 UTC
If you try to ls a fat partition using wic on Ubuntu 16.04 with host mtools installed you get the following error:
****
ERROR: _exec_cmd: /usr/bin/mdir -i /tmp/wic-part7q2ppk8i ::/ returned '1' instead of 0
output: Total number of sectors (47824) not a multiple of sectors per track (32)!
Add mtools_skip_check=1 to your .mtoolsrc file to skip this test
****

if you create a ~/.mtoolsrc with
mtools_skip_check=1
in it; then the command proceeds fine.

I will put a depends on Bug 12173 since this may go away when we use mtools-native correctly instead of host mtools. or it may not.

using our own mtools-native may allow us to make this bug obsolete...
Comment 2 brian avery 2017-10-04 21:56:08 UTC
Turns out that wic ls has an optional argument to pass in the native sysroot containing mtools-native

wic ls -n (pwd)/tmp/sysroots-components/x86_64/mtools-native   /tmp/core-image-base-qemux86-64.wic:1

^^^
The above works fine without the ~/.mtoolsrc file.

We only support using our own mtools.
