worth mentioning i'm talking about centos 7. Is this only for CentOS 7? What about earlier versions of the distro? Scott Cornel, I own this bug now and I can't move on it until we have feedback from Scott's Comment 2. Thanks! Kristi Right now i can not test on Centos 6, sorry. Looking here: http://fedora.mirrors.telekom.ro/pub/epel/6/x86_64/Packages/p/ I see that python-pip does exist, while python34-pip does not. So maybe the instructions are fine for Centos 6 but again, i can not test right now . Do we officially support CentOS versions older than 7? I do not know if we officially support CentOS prior to 7. However, we have a note implying we do here - http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.5/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#centos-packages. Scott I just checked with Richard, and it seems I was right - we don't officially support CentOS 6 anymore. For 2.5 we should remove the CentOS 6 reference (and the containing note box with it) from the QS guide. Paul - thanks. That simplifies things. Thanks everyone! I've updated both the ref-manual (http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.5/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#centos-packages) and the quick start (http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.5/yocto-project-qs/yocto-project-qs.html#packages) to replace python3-pip with python34-pip. Let me know if this looks good or if additional changes are required. Kristi This looks good. Can we also fix it for the current version of these documents? *** Bug 12468 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Thanks Cornel, We looked back and fixed all development branches for any yocto release that did not support 6.x. The "current" quick start and ref-manual should now reflect this as well. Because you have reviewed the change already, I am setting this as RESOLVED. http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/current/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#centos-packages http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/current/yocto-project-qs/yocto-project-qs.html#packages Fixed on the tip of the morty development branch on yocto docs (2.2.3). http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.2.3/yocto-project-qs/yocto-project-qs.html#packages http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.2.3/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#centos-packages Fixed on the tip of the pyro development branch on yocto docs (2.3.3). http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.3.3/yocto-project-qs/yocto-project-qs.html#packages http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.3.3/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#centos-packages Fixed on the tip of the rocko development branch on yocto docs (2.4.1). http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.4.1/yocto-project-qs/yocto-project-qs.html#packages http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.4.1/ref-manual/ref-manual.html#centos-packages |
