I can confirm this. I met the same error while working with "1.2 beta testing" snapshot. Did not report immediately since it was my first experience with the HOB: thought I was missing some configuration bit. For me too at least core-image-minimal successfully completed its build when run from terminal. Host machine is Ubuntu 11.10. Do you mind trying the lastest master or M4 RC1 again?
