Description Alexandru Georgescu 2013-02-26 12:17:01 UTC
ENVIRONMENT:
Fedora 17 64bit
ADT-INSTALLER: http://autobuilder.yoctoproject.org/pub/nightly/20130220-2/adt_installer-QA/
standalone toolchain: http://autobuilder.yoctoproject.org/pub/nightly/20130220-2/toolchain/x86_64/poky-eglibc-x86_64-i586-toolchain-gmae-1.3+snapshot-20130220.sh
poky commit:7d22ef28e64de06b6238d0ef9b664c0bee6efa46
eclipse-poky:d18c45e0f5367979f7402380ee123242da2b57d5

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Install ADT-installer (can use x86 target and ARM target)
2. Install eclipse plugin
3. Set up the environment to use sysroot, toolchain and kernel installed by adt-installer in step 1.
4. In eclipse, create a new Hello World C clutter project
5. Reconfigure the project
6. Build the project
7. Repeat all the steps, but use instead the standalone toolchain.

EXPECTED RESULTS:
5. Project can be reconfigured
6. Project can be built. The binaries can be found in the project tree

ACTUAL RESULTS:
5. An error appears in eclipse console when reconfiguring the project:
Description	Resource	Path	Location	Type
configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 clutter-1.0) were not met	clutter4 -1	Configure Problem

6. When trying to build an additional error appears:
Description	Resource	Path	Location	Type
make: *** No rule to make target `all'. C/C++ Problem

7. The same error appears when using the standalone toolchain.

Hi Alex,

The key is what is your sysroot. If your sysroot doesn't contain clutter dev packages, this is expected behavior. The adt-installer or toolchain part should give you the right cross tools, but that's only half of cross development setup. BTW, I don't think this is a major issue even we do missing clutter packages in images that you use as sysroot. So I mark it as medium normal

Hi Jessica,

Until now, using the toolchain and sysroot installed with adt-installer I could create, build and deploy the clutter project to the QEMU configured with Eclipse plugin.
The sysroot installed by adt-installer is using core-image-sato-sdk qemu images, which I think should contain clutter support.

All I want is to inform that before, the Clutter template worked and now it doesn't. Were there some changes that I am not aware of? Are this changes documented?

Thanks,
Alex.

We decided to remove support for clutter projects in Eclipse due to the fact that clutter is no longer supported in core-image-sato and core-image-sato-sdk. Clutter was not included by itself in the images, but brought by clutter-box2d, which was removed since it is not suitable for oe-core.
As Ross suggested (on bug 3991), gtk templates can be used instead.
I have sent the patch that removes clutter templates from Eclipse plugin to list for review.
