Description Dave Stewart 2011-03-15 09:09:32 UTC
We have a bug (#714) that was opened because someone tried to do a non-GPLv3 build of Sato. But Sato builds are apparently not designed to be run without GPLv3 components. Only minimal and basic are supposed to work.

Then I did a search of the Poky handbook and I didn't see non-GPLv3 documented anyplace. So we need a couple of things here, needed for 1.0:

1. Need to clearly document in the handbook how to do a build without GPLv3 components. Probably only a paragraph or so with a snippet from a config file.

2. Need to document either in the handbook or in release notes that non-GPLv3 builds are only supported with minimal and basic (which is what I think I heard).

Change is made in the Poky Reference manual. I have added some notes. One is in the Image appendix and one is in the chapter where it talks about building an image. These will be pushed and pull request generated tomorrow.

I met a libuser do_compile error, which blocks poky-image-basic testing with non-GPLv3, bug 926.

Fix is in the manual.
