STATUS: FAILED BUILD: 2.2 M3: 2679a347c576f5411fbe802d2f6201c94036ecb2 ENVIRONMENT: genericx86 - on MMAX32bit UI STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 1. Get a SD-drive with enough free space to install an image. 2. Plugin USB which contains live image burned (USB1). 3. Configure device BIOS to firstly boot from USB if necessary 4. Boot the device and select option "Install" from boot menu. 5. Make sure that the device in which image is going to be installed is the SD-drive. 6. Proceed through default install process. 7. Remove USB1, and reboot into new installed system. EXPECTED OUTCOME: 1. User can choose install system from USB stick on SD-drive from boot menu or command line option. 2. Installed system can boot up. Notes: Just to confirm, after booting the image with the USB and then connect the SD Card. SD card is not being recognized 1. After trying dmesg | tail -f SD card is not being displayed when pluging it in or out 2. ls /dev | grep mmcblk shows no recognized mmcblk devices You can download the image from here: http://autobuilder.yoctoproject.org/pub/releases/yocto-2.2_M3.rc1/machines/genericx86/core-image-sato-sdk-genericx86.hddimg
Since this is being tested on a Minnowboard MAX, I checked the kernel config coming from the meta-intel layer, and compared it with the one we get when using genericx86: Genericx86: $ cat .config | grep MMC # CONFIG_PCI_GOMMCONFIG is not set CONFIG_PCI_MMCONFIG=y # Supported MMC/SDIO adapters # CONFIG_MMC is not set meta-intel: $ cat .config | grep MMC CONFIG_PCI_MMCONFIG=y # Supported MMC/SDIO adapters CONFIG_MMC=y # CONFIG_MMC_DEBUG is not set # MMC/SD/SDIO Card Drivers CONFIG_MMC_BLOCK=y CONFIG_MMC_BLOCK_MINORS=8 CONFIG_MMC_BLOCK_BOUNCE=y # CONFIG_MMC_TEST is not set # MMC/SD/SDIO Host Controller Drivers CONFIG_MMC_SDHCI=y CONFIG_MMC_SDHCI_PCI=y CONFIG_MMC_RICOH_MMC=y CONFIG_MMC_SDHCI_ACPI=y So I am guessing the missing configs are producing the failure. I believe these should be added to genericx86 since we do want to support installing poky to an SD card, although I am unsure if there's a reason why these configs are missing and they're not meant to be added to genericx86.
IIRC there have been requests to pare down what gets built in genericx86, but I believe this is important enough to add.

Does http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit.cgi/poky/commit/?id=edf08e5df481753e28cf6bfff98bdcc5618c49e6 fix this?

I just verified this one, working good. After booting when connecting SD Card is being recognized successfully. Apart of this, I installed from USB to SD Card the image. And then boot from SD Card successfully. Regards, Paco
