Description ulfalizer 2016-09-16 23:38:34 UTC
Hello,

It's not mentioned that single quotes can be used as well as double quotes when
assigning values to variables. I suggest adding the following to the end of
'3.1.1. Basic Variable Setting':

  Instead of double quotes, single quotes can be used. This allows the value to
  contain double quotes:

    VARIABLE = 'I have a " in my value'

  Note {
  Unlike in Bourne shells, single quotes work identically to double quotes in all
  other ways. They do not suppress variable expansions.
  }

Cheers,
Ulf

"Double" should have been "double quote" in "doing so allows you to use values that contain the double character". Looks fine other than that.

Ulf

Ulf,

Sorry about that .. Fixed.

http://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.2/bitbake-user-manual/bitbake-user-manual.html#basic-variable-setting.

I am going to set to RESOLVED and put the doc flag to "done."

Thanks,
Scott
