Description Joshua Lock 2016-10-21 10:09:03 UTC
A recent series starting with[1] overhauled use of FuncFailed exceptions, which are intended to be caught when calling exec_func/exec_task.

This highlighted incorrect usage of FuncFailed puts other Exception handling in OE-Core under question, particularly the use of NotImplementedError in sanity.bbclass.

We should look to design & document & implement throughout OE-Core some best practices for patterns in metadata which throw exceptions including:
- useradd-staticids.bbclass
- image.bbclass
- sanity.bbclass
