Description Benjamin Esquivel 2016-10-21 17:45:20 UTC
when at the u-boot options, trying to edit the boot entry freezes the terminal, no further action can be executed.

This fails in joule but the same image does not fail in a minnowboard max.

poky: 4b94b49
meta-intel: 8dbd551

the procedure is:

1. build a core image minimal with meta intel's machine intel-corei7-64
2. burn the hddimg image to an sd card using dd
3. boot it in a joule machine
4. try to edit the boot params

At this point it will freeze and you need to restart.

It is worth mentioning that the image boots if it is not edited at the params stage.

There is a known BIOS bug that causes a hang with the console, there is a partial work-around for systemd-boot, which allows selecting which boot label, but still hangs again when attempting to edit the boot params.

Ok, so this is going to be something like Waiting for upstream? or how do we mark it dependant on the fix you mention?
Comment 3 Saul Wold 2016-11-14 17:01:44 UTC
As mentioned this is a BIOS issue and can not be addressed from the bootloader, marking this WaitForUpstream
Comment 4 Saul Wold 2016-11-14 18:39:07 UTC
Marking future until we learn more from the firmware team
Comment 5 Ross Burton 2017-07-05 10:53:05 UTC
Waiting For Upstream status is being removed, changing to Accepted.
Comment 6 Saul Wold 2017-10-18 03:21:05 UTC
This is a know upstream issue with the Joule Bios, as the Joule has been EOL'ed I am closing this bug
