Description Stefan Windfeldt 2016-12-15 08:31:44 UTC
Currently if you have a patch in you layer and the patch is merged upstream you get an error next time you build. It would be great if it would be possible for the system to detect that the patch has been merged and only give a warning and continue building.

I don't think being able to make this "magic" is either possible, or desirable. Its likely to be hard to implement since figuring out whether a given patch has been applied in a given piece of source is non-trivial. You can test if it can be reverse applied but that doesn't work if there are any other overlapping changes.

I'm also not sure its desirable since we want deterministic builds and metadata which is correct, not metadata which guesses what to do with things. So for that reason, I don't think this is something we plan to implement.
