This plugin needs to be fixed. It crashes when wic run with this .wks file: part / --source rootfs-pcbios-ext --ondisk sda --fstype=ext4 --label rootfs --align 1024 bootloader --source rootfs-pcbios-ext --timeout=0 --append="rootwait rootfstype=ext4" > wic create ./test.wks -e core-image-minimal Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/ed/git/yocto/poky/scripts/lib/wic/plugins/imager/direct.py", line 77, in do_create creator.create() File "/home/ed/git/yocto/poky/scripts/lib/wic/plugins/imager/direct.py", line 285, in create self.bootimg_dir, self.kernel_dir, self.native_sysroot) File "/home/ed/git/yocto/poky/scripts/lib/wic/partition.py", line 181, in prepare kernel_dir, rootfs_dir, native_sysroot) File "/home/ed/git/yocto/poky/scripts/lib/wic/plugins/source/rootfs_pcbios_ext.py", line 163, in do_prepare_partition if part.rootfs is None: AttributeError: 'Partition' object has no attribute 'rootfs' It would be good to add test case to the wic oe-selftest suite to ensure the plugin will not be broken in future.
There is a patch available on the mailing list which fixes the problem for i386 targets but not for x86_64. The root cause for failing on x86_64 could be in the wic plugin or in the user space installer for ext file systems of syslinux. Since the plugin seems not widely used, we decided to remove it from poky.
