Description Aníbal Limón 2017-04-19 18:47:36 UTC
When try to use kexec-tools with poky-tiny this don't work showing:

root@qemux86:~# kexec -l /boot/bzImage --reuse-cmdline
Could not find a free area of memory of 0x8000 bytes...
locate_hole failed

For enable kexec-tools the linux-yocto-tiny recipe needs to enable via a file cfg or fragment, kernel option CONFIG_KEXEC=y.

Here the local.conf settings:

MACHINE ??= "qemux86"
CORE_IMAGE_EXTRA_INSTALL = "kernel-image kexec-tools"
DISTRO = "poky-tiny"

After some research seems to be related to kernel configuration to increase the default memory values. [1][2][3]

Hey Anibal,

Is this working on poky?, because at first sight we dont set CONFIG_KEXEC anywhere for poky either.

Yes, it works using poky and as you mention there is a need to enable CONFIG_KEXEC into the kernel in a separate step.

Kexec is not a tiny use case. tiny is missing features and it doesn't make sense to deal with the problem.
