Description pgharios 2017-08-28 12:24:46 UTC
hello community, i am trying to install sinatra on yocto getting this error: gem install sinatra /usr/bin/ruby: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/ruby/2.2.0/arm-linux-gnueabi/socket.so: undefined symbol: getipnodebyname
Comment 1 pgharios 2017-08-28 12:26:21 UTC
Yocto version 1.8
Comment 2 Jussi Kukkonen 2017-08-30 10:24:48 UTC
getipnodebyname() is deprecated in glibc so ruby shouldn't be using it.

Yocto release 1.8 is no longer supported though. Does the issue exist on current master or supported releases?
Comment 3 Leonardo Sandoval Gonzalez 2017-08-31 14:47:23 UTC
Please provide more explanation (and Jussi's question) on how to reproduce the issue observed. OE-core supports ruby but not sinatra. Remember that the project is intended for cross-compilation with the goal to create a full distro, not target installation of ruby gems.
Comment 4 Leonardo Sandoval Gonzalez 2017-10-12 15:08:02 UTC
The scenario presented is not supported by the project (native installation and a package not supported by the project).
