Description Darren Hart 2011-06-28 12:27:39 UTC
TARGET_FPU is soft by default and needs to be set to hard to take advantage of the floating point hardware on the beagleboard. This is set in DISTRO configuration policy in things like angstrom. It isn't clear to me where this change should be made, but we do need to enable hardware floating point on the beagleboard.

The MPC8315e handles this as follows:

meta-yocto/conf/machine/mpc8315e-rdb.conf:TARGET_FPU = "spe"

perhaps the right fix is to add "TARGET_FPU='hard'" to beagleboard.conf ?

I have second patch series that specifies using hard fp in the beagleboard conf after some updates to cortexa8 tune. It boots on bbxm, prints garbage on C4. It is ignoring the boot.scr. Debugging that before submitting.

Final patch adds a commented out DEFAULT_TUNE and some comments describing how to enable hard fp - but leaves it disabled by default.
