The objective of this bug is to examine the viability to add ext2 support to poky tiny images.

Just to clarify, this bug is to add support for creating/modifying ext partitions on poky-tiny, this will be added via busybox.

While doing this I will also check what other functionality should or may be added to poky-tiny.

As per https://busybox.net/downloads/BusyBox.html, busybox doesn't have mkfs.ext so this isn't possible.
