Description pankaj yadav 2018-08-17 09:31:16 UTC
Following are the steps to reproduce the issue:
1) download the image from following link
http://centaurus01.png.intel.com:8080/workspace/andromeda02/yocto-2.5.1.rc1/genericx86-64/core-image-sato-sdk-genericx86-64.hddimg
2) make bootable pendrive using this image.
3) boot the pendrive on NUC7.
4) after booting open the media player and play the audio file ( .wav,.ogg )

Expected result:
1) Audio should be audible on the HDMI port on the monitor (screen)

Actual result
1) Audio is not audible on the HDMI port

Note: Monitor also has a 3.5 jack port

Below mentioned are a few observations:
1)On NUC7 : Audio is audible through 3.5 jack port on NUC7 box, but Not able to listen audio through Monitor using 3.5 audio jack port connected to NUC7 box.

2)On MTURBOT : There is no 3.5 jack port on MTURBOT board. Able to listen audio through Monitor 3.5 jack port connected to the MTURBOT board.

I can't download the image from the Intel site. But the HDMI audio works pretty well on my NUC7 board both for Sumo and master branch. The following are the steps I used to validate the HDMI audio on my NUC7 board:
1. Configure the default soundcard and device:
root@x8664:~# cat /etc/asound.conf
# Global alsa-lib configuration
pcm.!default{
	type hw
	card 0
	device 3
}

2. Unmute the S/PDIF by using the command 'alsamixer -c 0'
