The current recipe takes an old debian upstream and heavily patches it. Let's just take upstream tarballs eg https://docbook.org/xml/4.5/ directly and apply any fixes needed instead.
I reworked the recipe but I have a question. Are schemas of versions other than 4.5 needed? The patch adds them to sources.
*Probably*. Might be worth starting with just 4.5 and seeing if anything using it breaks.
* OT * OK, I'd like to submit. Although I requested for an access no answer has come so far. If there's a way how to send an email patch please tell me. I'm not able to find any way within Yocto Newcomers or Contributions sites. Maybe I'm just blind so please give me a hint if this is the case :-)
The high level overview is send a patch to openembedded-core@lists.openembedded.org. https://wiki.yoctoproject.org/wiki/Newcomers https://www.openembedded.org/wiki/How_to_submit_a_patch_to_OpenEmbedded
Looks like systemd, asciidoc and xdg-utils all have other docbook versions at the very least: https://autobuilder.yoctoproject.org/typhoon/#/builders/108/builds/311
A new try added with versions 4.2 .. 4.5. Where can I find info about the builds (triggering etc.)?
Moving to unassigned. Take back if you like and have time.
I have completed this and in process of supplying patch.
