Description Adrian Bunk 2019-06-08 09:28:54 UTC
ptest is a valuable tool for Yocto QA, but often not useful for users (there is a pretty high noise-to-signal ratio with different DISTRO_FEATURES/MACHINE_FEATURES/PACKAGECONFIG and kernel configuration).

One result of the ongoing ptest dependency fixes is that compared to the current warrior release, in the next warrior point release building util-linux will require building several additional packages like mdadm or socat since they were added to RDEPENDS_${PN}-ptest.

I understand that this might be non-trivial, but it would be useful if building RDEPENDS_${PN}-ptest would be skipped when neither the ptest DISTRO_FEATURE is enabled nor RDEPENDS_${PN}-ptest is otherwise pulled into the image.

I'd have thought the extra RDEPENDS_${PN}-ptest would be skipped today, have you confirmed with ptest disabled, these still get built? I just want to be 100% sure there is an issue here.

Right you are, for some reason I still had ptest in DISTRO_FEATURES.

Sorry for the noise.
