These are two different issues reported to be caused on mips by the gcc 8 -> 9 switch.

Someone should debug and forward upstream them if mips should use gcc 9 in Yocto 2.8, otherwise the safest workaround might be to use gcc 8 on mips for now.

We'll track this first issue since it's related to oe-core.
Khem can you handle the second issue in meta-oe?
Comment 2 Adrian Bunk 2019-06-13 14:55:03 UTC
The second issue looks like as if the root cause would be gcc 9 generating code that binutils rejects.

It could be something mundane like the common -mxgot issue (the error message does not match this one specifically), but my guess would be that there is a toolchain bug that has to be fixed in oe-core.

this is not reproducible on real mips board that I had access to. Secondly, needing
toolchain on target for mips is more or less a rare case.

reopen if this happens on real mips hardware with a modern toolchain.

Let's try this again since last time something went wrong:

reopen if this happens on real mips hardware with a modern toolchain.
