We are having trouble understanding how this can happen since we build all recent releases using 16.04.

What yocto/oe-core release are you using?
Can you try a stand-alone build of qemuarm for that release perhaps using poky only?

The DISTRO_VERSION on poky.conf is 2.6.1

I try the build asap.

log build

log of the build with error on ncurses.

I could not reproduce this using MACHINE=qemuarm with 2.6.2 checked out on 16.04 laptop 2 core.

gcc version 5.4.0 20160609 (Ubuntu 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.11)

Default layers for a poky install.
Comment 5 Armin Kuster 2019-10-03 06:06:15 UTC
I just finish building with DEFAULTTUNE=cortexa9thf-neon

still no error.

I can not reproduce this with the standard Poky s/w.
Comment 6 Richard Purdie 2019-10-17 15:16:30 UTC
If you're using 2.6.1 I'd suggest using the latest 2.6.X. Marking as unable to reproduce.
