Description Armin Kuster 2019-11-24 21:58:58 UTC
<Jin^eLD> hi, has anyone tried building yocto 3.0 on Fedora 31? it seems that strip is failing:
<Jin^eLD> poky-build/build/work/x86_64-linux/m4-native/1.4.18-r0/recipe-sysroot-native/usr/bin/m4[.gnu.build.attributes]: corrupt GNU build attribute note: wrong note type: bad value
<Jin^eLD> any hints where to dig?
<Jin^eLD> ehm, strip is failiing on m4-native that is :)
<Jin^eLD> does not seem to be a yocto issue though, seems I can't strip a self compiled version outside of yocto either.. doh
<Jin^eLD> ok never mind, for anyone who is planning to build on fedora31: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1770464#c10

<armpit> Jin^eLD, thanks for the info. When we get ready to add FC31, this may be helpful in the process
<Jin^eLD> armpit: sure... that is, if they fix that, from what I read so far its only fixed in rawhide, I asked if they plan to backport the fix to F31, lets see...

<Jin^eLD> armpit: fyi, fedora users can install binutils from koji as a workaround, was hinted to try it and it indeed solved my issue: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=1415570
<Jin^eLD> fedora 31 users that is

Latest comment in the bug:

"FYI - I have a Bodhi update request in place to move the fixed binutils packages into the F31 and F30 stable releases."

Closing as this will be fixed in F31 shortly.

Thanks for the information!
