[ 17.083682] futex_wake_op: futex tries to shift op by -518; fix this program ... Full log attached. The warning is from linux.git/kernel/futex.c -- commit e78c38f6bdd90 and it seems that the kernel developers think that strace should be fixed. I can reproduce the problem on strace.git/master on my Ubuntu-19.10 distro so I think this is just a tracking defect for YP. I'll work with the strace developers to fix the bug or at least report the issue.

Randy: did you speak to upstream about this?
Ross, No, sadly I haven't.

Commented on https://github.com/strace/strace/issues/142 to see if there's a middle ground.
Neither the upstream kernel or strace devs seem to be interested in fixing this annoyance so I'm closing the defect.
