I just filed bug #1424, which I'm pretty certain is a bug related to code in our image creation bitbake classes. However, adopting the perspective of someone who might be new to the project, our Bugzilla bug categories do not offer anything obvious as to where this bug should have been filed. Perhaps a category of image issues or runtime, non-recipe bugs should be created.

Does - Poky / Build System / bitbake  address your category.  I think that this would be the right place for that kind of bug. It's Not meta-data, it part of the build system.
