Using latest honister (3.4.3), when I bitbake core-image-minimal and run qemu with:
runqemu qemux86-64 qemuparams="-m 4096" core-image-minimal
the VM will only have access to 2GB of memory:

root@qemux86-64:~# free -m
              total        used        free      shared  buff/cache   available
Mem:        2032708       43564     1970920         228       18224     1962316
Swap:             0           0           0

I think this may be fixed with https://git.yoctoproject.org/poky/commit/?id=d38868cfff2f4be2bc9e44951b01785b142d91e4 ?
