The following patch is buggy:

I believe the "== NULL" check in the patch should be changed to "!= NULL".

The result is that running depmod creates modules.dep with a size of 0.  This fixes the problem:

SRC_URI:remove = "file://0001-depmod-Ignore-.debug-directories.patch"

This may not affect most configurations because eudev now has a dependency on kmod, so many builds might not be using depmod from busybox anymore.
