Now that booting from CDROM mostly works (see http://bugzilla.pokylinux.org/show_bug.cgi?id=686), I tried to boot 'core-image-sato' from CDROM Build core-image-sato for qemux86, master 9d1db6cc928199f8ac4960e8d4648563ef141427 Firstly, I have found no way to run this image using the 'runqemu' script Boot the CDROM manually like this: $ tmp/sysroots/i686-linux/usr/bin/qemu -serial stdio -m 512 --cdrom tmp/deploy/images/core-image-sato-qemux86-20110930010455.iso You'll see that it hangs with the splash screen, although you can log into the serial console. Poking around on the console, it's obvious that this image is not happy running with a read-only root such as the CDROM.
Created attachment 266 [details] Boot log This log shows logging into the sato session and trying to restart the X server. This showed that at least /tmp needs to be writable for this to work, so I mounted /tmp on a ramdisk and tried again. The X server tried harder, but still fails.
