Description Dave Stewart 2010-07-28 12:50:10 UTC
Several of us who are new to Poky seem to always hit the same issues. We need a "5 minute newbie guide" for people so they don't need to flood the mailing list and irc with the same questions. Someone brand new to Poky should use the handbook to try to build and run an image and see what else should be in the guide.

1. Trying to build behind a corporate firewall - this is so hard to define generically that we should just tell newbies to do this outside of a corporate firewall

2. Building under VirtualBox doesn't work due to VB failures. Tell people up front not to do this, run native under Linux

3. QEMU apparently has problems running unless you build the native version first and it's not apparent from error messages. Richard might have fixed this, but we need to confirm.

4. The package list that you need to have installed on Linux was incomplete when I tried it. This should be checked to see if it's right.

5. Apparently if you use SE Linux, you need to disable security. Saul says there is also some problem with MMAP minimal address. Check with SGW about it.

Guide is created and in progress. Not sure what state that means in the bugzilla system.

This guide exists now. If there is further specific information that the guide needs to provide file a bug against it separately.
