Download beaglebone core-image-sato-sdk wic image from the above link. 2. Deploy wic image to MircoSD card and boot up system. The matchbox-desktop fails to start, leaving only a black screen. But I can connect the system via serial port. The X server process is running but there is an error in Xorg.log: root@beaglebone-yocto:~# ps aux|grep X root 508 0.0 0.4 3236 2040 ? Possible fix posted: https://lists.yoctoproject.org/g/linux-yocto/message/14691
If we can test this and prove that we have a fix in master, then we can release M1. Kevin, Yi, what's the plan?
The kernel fix has already been merged into linux-yocto, but it is not yet included in the SRCREV_machine in the oe-core recipe. I have just sent out a patch [1] to set a machine specific SRCREV_machine for beaglebone to pull in this fix. [1] https://lists.yoctoproject.org/g/poky/message/13501
Bruce has updated the kernel to v6.12.9, which includes the fix for this issue.
FWIW, I built my own Sato images from latest Poky/master and can confirm that this issue is now resolved - X starts fine on BBB and displays Sato desktop.
Verified with 5.2 M2 RC1. Git rev: 59db27de565fb33f9e4326e76ebd6fa3935557b9
