Description Sermsity Sunil Kumar Dora 2026-03-17 20:13:27 UTC
This is a tracking bug created to follow ongoing investigation and fixes related to Bug 16058 - AB-INT: rust do_test_compile/do_install segfault.

See the original bug here:

This tracking bug monitors the temporary workaround implemented to address a SIGSEGV issue in the Rust toolchain caused by mixing different GCC and linker (ld) versions during builds. The workaround involves dynamically linking LLVM with the Rust driver instead of static linking. The goal is to follow progress on upstream fixes in GCC/Binutils, simplify reproduction, report the root cause upstream, and eventually remove this workaround once the underlying issue is resolved.

The complete analysis and resolution have been updated in the base bug.

If the worker-side fix resolves the issue, I think we can revert the current workaround (linking LLVM dynamically to `librustc_driver.so`) on the `oe-core` master branch, which is currently under review.
