The i2c-tools package (with versions >4.0) is licensed under both GPL-2.0-or-later and LGPL-2.1-or-later (https://github.com/MLAB-project/i2c-tools/blob/master/README.md and COPYING.LGPL) The .bb file for i2c-tools only includes GPL-2.0-or-later. https://github.com/openembedded/openembedded-core/blob/master/meta/recipes-devtools/i2c-tools/i2c-tools_4.4.bb This flags license conflicts with tools that trace dependencies of non-gpl compoents linking to /usr/lib/libi2c.so.0 Looking for the LICENSE in devtools to be updated to the correct license set.
Hi, I would like to work on this bug
Confirmed it. The i2c-tools upstream README explicitly states that libi2c is licensed under LGPL-2.1-or-later. The COPYING.LGPL file is present in the i2c-tools-4.4 tarball (md5: 4fbd65380cdd255951079008b364516c). Other build systems including buildroot, openWrt, and fedora already correctly reflect this dual license. The current oe-core recipe only references GPL-2.0-or-later and does not include COPYING.LGPL in LIC_FILES_CHKSUM.
Thanks Sia. Fix on master , backport as needed.
