Integrate the deploying script into L1 target's hob. Need separate GUI triggered by HOB
Comment 1 Shane Wang 2012-02-06 04:09:07 UTC
We have workable scripts and the basical UI designed by Belen.
Now we need to integrate into Hob2.
Comment 2 Shane Wang 2012-03-19 23:41:50 UTC
Deployment was already in the master.
Comment 3 Jiajun Xu 2012-04-04 13:48:19 UTC
QA tested the deploy function in Hob against 1.2 M4 RC1, it could work.
Comment 4 Darren Hart 2012-04-09 16:59:57 UTC
There is no commit ID in the comments. Bug 1738 doesn't appear anywhere in the poky git log that I could find. There is nothing in this bug that mentions how to use the new tool.

What is the commit ID of the fix?

What is the command of the GUI image writer?
Comment 5 Saul Wold 2012-04-09 21:12:12 UTC
Its part of Hob, you start up hob and select "My Images", then select your image to either run or deploy. Not a separate tool (I thought it would be separate also)
Comment 6 Darren Hart 2012-04-09 21:16:21 UTC
So if you have an existing image you have to start hob and wait for bitbake to parse recipes before you can write the image? If you are running Linux and would like a convenient way to write images you've downloaded and you don't have a poky environment setup, you can't use the graphical image writer?

That doesn't make sense.

Shall I reopen this bug or open a new one?

Shane and Dongxiao actually helped to implement this tool that is built-in with hob.
Shand, Dongxiao, is it possible to implement "lazy-parsing" for a quicker startup of hob here?

hmm, I have to admit Darren's concern makes sense.
Shane, Dongxiao, is it possible to make the core logic and/or UI into a shared python module or something so that a separate new tool can also re-use the those?

Darren, thanks for the comments!
Let's wait for Shane and Dongxiao's comments.
