Some ppc targets need suitable tune files to be built, such as qemuppc, mpc8315e-rdb.
I believe all of the needed PowerPC tunings are in place: powerpc - classic PPC, hard float powerpc-nf - classic PPC, soft-float powerpc64 - classic PPC64, hard float ppc603e - PPC 603e, hard float ppce300c2 - PPC e300c2, soft float ppce500 - PPC e500v1, Single Precision SPE, soft float ppce500v2 - PPC e500v2, Double Precision SPE, soft float ppce500mc - PPC e500mc, hard float ppce5500 - PPC e5500, hard float ppce550064 - PPC64 e5500, hard float --- What additional tunings are needed? The qemuppc is fine w/ powerpc or ppc603e. The mpc8315 is also fine w/ the 603e, but if someone wanted a ppce300c1 or c3 we could add it as necessary. (c1/c3 are basically 603e cores..)
If there is any additional issues, please re-open this
we use mac99 emulation for qemuppc, mac99 is essentially a G4 platform which means the 603e tunes are not exactly right for it. big difference I see is FPU is 64bit on ppc74xx whereas 603e has 32bit and additionally it has Altivec. I am reopening this bug to track activities if we have to add a new tune to match mac99 platform.
I have sent out a patch to add new appropriate tune files. it also needs a altivec to be enabled in kernel which I have already asked Bruce to add. once these two changes are in I will send out another patch to switch the default tune for qemuppc.
