Why?

That will confuse users.

"Templates" and "Settings" are only for image configuration.

Need info.

I guess what you are trying to say is that you think this could be confusing. We don't know if it really confuses users or not because we haven't tested it with any users. Let's make an effort to clearly distinguish between what we know for sure because we have evidence (which at this point is very little) and what we are guessing or have opinions about.

Our rational for this is as follows. We don't know for sure, but have made the assumption that once you have finished building an image there are a few things you might want to do:

1. Deploy / run the image you just built
2. Edit the image you just built
3. Create a template from the image you just built
4. Create a new image from scratch
5. Create a new image from a template you saved before
6. See the details of an image you created before
7. Edit any of the variables in the build system before you do any of the above

The actions in the image details screen, together with toolbar actions (Templates, Images and Settings) aim to cover all the above 7 possible next steps.

Let's pretend that after building an image I want to create a new image from a template I've saved before (case 5). If we don't include the Templates toolbar action in the Image details screen, this would take the following steps:

1. Go to the image configuration screen by clicking the 'create a new image' button
2. Click on the 'templates' button
3. Select my template
4. Hit 'build'

If we include the Templates toolbar action in the Image details screen, it would take the following steps:

1. Click on the 'templates' button
2. Select my template
3. Hit 'build'

Having the Templates toolbar action in the Image details screen just made my life a bit easier (one step easier). And this is why we think we should have the 3 toolbar actions in the image configuration screen.

Cheers

I admit that makes things simpler for Templates.

What about "Settings"?

Can I take users to image configuration screen? Because if you want change variables for templates or my images, that doesn't make any sense.

Sorry, Shane: I am not sure I understand why making changes to Settings from the Image details screen might be a problem. You can make changes to Settings from Image configuration or Image details. There is no need to send people back to the Image configuration screen in order to allow them to make Settings changes. Settings are very much about building system variables, and not so much about image specific variables.

Let me put an example. After you have finished building an image, you might realise you are missing an output format you need. You should be able to launch the Settings dialog, add the output type you need, and then rebuild your image.

I hope it makes sense.
