commit: da6233ea034f35eff59306fdad31f318c340c359

In CentOS 5.x(5.6/5.7), bitbake fails to run due to old version for python. The python in it is 2.4.3. We have to upgrade the python to 2.6 to pass build.

We can't fix this - the only thing we can do is provide instructions on how to install a newer Python version.
Comment 2 Saul Wold 2012-04-02 17:51:59 UTC
I thought that we provided a python bundle that could be used? Can this be verified with the python in http://downloads.yoctoproject.org/releases/miscsupport/
Comment 3 Paul Eggleton 2012-04-02 17:57:15 UTC
Last I checked this was not enough, we assume you have git installed for example, which is not available on CentOS 5.x out of the box. The easiest option is to use EPEL:

EPEL works fine if you only want Python and the core libraries. It will not help if the user wants to run Hob.
Comment 5 Paul Eggleton 2012-04-04 19:28:04 UTC
Yes, that is worth noting, however that is not what this bug report is about though.
Comment 6 Joshua Lock - Disabled 2012-04-06 17:08:32 UTC
I believe we already provide instructions on how to get newer Python on CentOS 5.x so I'm marking this as WONTFIX.
