Created attachment 615 [details] adt_installer.log ENVIRONMENT USED: # Host Machine: x86_64 # OS info: 3.3.4-5.fc17.x86_64 Happens also in a Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64 machine. DESCRIPTION: Cannot install successfully the ADT using the sgw/denzil branch. The error displayed is: Installing envrionement file for i586 ... Link the ld.so.cache file into the host filesystem ln: failed to create symbolic link `/opt/poky/1.2.1/sysroots/x86_64-pokysdk-linux//etc/ld.so.cache': No such file or directory STEPS TO REPRODUCE (8): 1. git clone git://git.yoctoproject.org/poky-contrib 2. git checkout sgw/denzil in poky-contrib folder 3. source, then build the adt-installer: $ bitbake adt-installer 4. I copied to another folder an then extracted the adt_installer archive that was built: $ tar -xjf adt_installer.tar.bz2 5. editing adt_installer.conf YOCTOADT_REPO="http://localhost/1.2.1". In the my local server, the bzimage and qemu sysroot are downloaded from here: http://autobuilder.yoctoproject.org/pub/nightly/20120628-4/machines/qemu/qemux86/ 6. I edited the adt installer opkg conf files $ vim conf/opkg-sdk-x86_64.conf : src yp-x86_64-nativesdk http://autobuilder.yoctoproject.org/pub/nightly/CURRENT/ipk/x86_64-nativesdk and $ vim conf/opkg-sdk-i686.conf: src yp-i686-nativesdk http://autobuilder.yoctoproject.org/pub/nightly/CURRENT/ipk/i686-nativesdk 7. To choose silent mode, which means you opt for the system to override the existing data under the specified installation directories without prompting for your confirmation. Please be cautious with this selection which may trigger your losing data. With the interactive mode, you have to closely monitor the installation process, since it will prompt you each step it needs to override some existing data. To choose silent mode, please enter [S], for interactive mode, please enter [I] or [X] to exit the installation. the error is due to there's no 1.2.1 directory created. I'm not sure why you're testing against sgw/denzil branch, is it official denzil 1.2.1? Also, can you check has the distro version of the branch has been changed to 1.2.1? I strongly against testing adt-installer this way since it's really kind of using things mixmatch and lots of things can go wrong which fundamentally is not adt-installer's issue. Hongna, Are these steps the defined way for QA to test adt-installer? If so, we probably need to refine them. Thanks, Jessica
Jessica: alex's steps are not our standard test cases for ADT-installer testing. Alex: we get the adt-intaller tarball from the aitobuilder, if you don't want to build the ipk packages for it, you may also point the "src yp-x86_64-nativesdk" or "src yp-i686-nativesdk" to the corresponding branch with adt-installer, i mean the ipks and adt-installer should be built from the same branch, your settings are not matching, so you encounter this issue. i pick poky-contrib/denzil for example, these are my steps and settings: 1.get the adt-intaller tarball from:http://autobuilder.pokylinux.org/pub/nightly/20120626-2/adt_installer/. 2.get the qemu images from:http://autobuilder.pokylinux.org/pub/nightly/20120626-2/machines/qemu/. 3.organize the sato-sdk images and kernels for local repo. 4.untar adt-installer, modify the adt-installer.conf set YOCTOADT_REPO="http://localhost/1.2.1" 5.edited the file opkg-sdk-x86_64.conf in adt-installer/opkg/conf, set "src yp-x86_64-nativesdk" as http://autobuilder.pokylinux.org/pub/nightly/20120626-2/ipk/x86_64-nativesdk/, if your host arch is 32bit, you shoule modify the file adt-installer/opkg/conf/opkg-sdk-i686.conf set "src yp-i686-nativesdk" point to http://autobuilder.pokylinux.org/pub/nightly/20120626-2/ipk/i686-nativesdk/. do you notice that the adt-insaller tarball and the ipks are in the same folder, as well as the qemu images, they are all built from the same branch, so they are matching, your ipks are not matching with your adt-installer tarball, you can go into the ipk folder to check, so in your /opt/poky dir generate the folder 1.1.2. 6.then you may install it by ./adt-installer, and confirm there is no folder /opt/poky before installation.
closing this since it's obsolete.
