Description Mark Hatle 2010-09-07 08:38:16 UTC
Currently QEMU contains hard coded values about specific BSPs and configurations. This should be made more dynamic to more easily enable additional BSPs and configurations to work with QEMU.

It would be nice to include serial vs X11 console configuration as part of this work.

The dynamic configuration should be made up of a combination of command line switches (with reasonable Poky defaults) and per BSP/machine configurations that can be loaded by the script.

Instead of saying a qemuarm "board" requires the following configuration (in the qemu startup script), it should go out and load the qemuarm board's configuration file -- which would specify what, if any, special QEMU parameters are needed. In addition it could also specify if graphics is available, serial is available or other hardware (as it gets defined in the future....)

This will be possible with the upcoming option to add custom QEMU command line
options that Liping is working on.

Please refer to bug 461 and changeset:
http://git.pokylinux.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky/commit/?id=ae4f5c942ef0561335313d676ff8defc0f0bdbbc

Now extra parameters could be added by user with extra parameters in $poky-qemu qemu-image.bin nfs_extraction_dir "<qemu extra parameters>", eg, it could be
"<-m 256>"
Thanks & Regards,
