Description Ross Burton 2012-08-13 11:44:55 UTC
We should integrate Wayland as a distro feature in the next development cycle.

The first iteration will be to simply boot up and start the Weston compositor, and the Wayland terminal.

poky-contrib:ross/mesa contains a branch enabling EGL that is a prerequisite.

Also of interest is "lolos", https://github.com/dlespiau/poky/commits/wip/lolos, a oe-core branch that integrates wayland. The patches there that have not already been upstreamed should be reviewed and integrated into oe-core.

Patch for xkeyboard-config

One niggle that we'll hit is that Wayland wants libxkbcommon that wants xkeyboard-config that generates files using xkbcomp which wants X11. Urgh.

The attached patch (from an upstream maintainer) can be applied to xkeyboard-config to remove the dependency on xkbcomp, removing the X11 dependency on Wayland.

Wayland support has been integrated in oe-core as of 94fcb80121b64974ff57b76275addaa684c559cf.

Verified.

An image can be configured with weston compositor.
I have updated the wiki documentation with the steps needed to create the image.

Set to verified, images can be created with Wayland support.
Other bugs that treat various aspects of this features are and will be opened if needed.
