Description Ross Burton 2012-10-11 14:46:50 UTC
PulseAudio doesn't get any testing, mainly because at present it isn't in the Sato images.

Ideas for testing:
- check server starts
- check audio input/output works through PA
- check audio output can be switched in realtime between outputs

Hi Laurentiu,

Can you update how in general do we test audio from QA perspective?

Thanks,
Jessica

Working on implementing pulseaudio on sugarbay/FRI2/atom-pc images.
Will create test-cases after.
Comment 4 Alexandru Georgescu 2013-09-19 13:45:25 UTC
MOving it to 1.6. Definitely won't make it 1.5 ...
Comment 5 Alexandru Georgescu 2014-04-24 10:05:57 UTC
Promoting this as an enhancement for now.
Comment 6 Ross Burton 2015-05-22 12:59:46 UTC
There's patches to integrate PA into Sato on the list now, so this will happen automatically when it's merged.

Hi Ross,
Any updates on this?

Is there a need for a specific test suite?

Alex: what sort of audio testing is done on hardware right now?

Audio:
- play ogg, wav, ogv, unable to play without commercial flag.
- usually using the audio jack and via HDMI if the HW has this support.

I guess my question is if testing some audio files is enough, or we need to cover more on the audio part as well.

Assigning it back to you:)

You can check the "audio *" test cases within this template: https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/tr_show_run.cgi?run_id=4039

The only audio test cases I can see there is "open five files in gstplayer".

Apart from that I'd like to see:
1) verification hotplug of HDMI-with-integrated-speakers works on NUC
2) verification that volume works
Comment 12 Leonardo Sandoval Gonzalez 2016-05-25 20:42:47 UTC
Due to limited resources, moving this to 2.3
Comment 14 Jose Perez C 2016-11-29 13:15:12 UTC
Can you take a look at them? and if you are ok with the tests we can close this bug.
Comment 15 Ross Burton 2016-12-21 12:11:24 UTC
Please extend the tests cases to verify that seeking and volume control works in the media player.

The necessary tests were added and will be implemented in the next testcycle.

Thanks,
Juan.
