For initial testing of Smart we can use rpm-dir channels; however this is rather suboptimal as the directories have to be re-indexed on every invocation of smart. We need to find the most optimal way of creating feeds for Smart and implement that within the rootfs construction code. The major components of this task: - Update package-index (and related) to construct Smart compatible feeds - Update rootfs_rpm.bbclass (and related) to construct/use Smart compatible feeds
From the Smart FAQ (http://labix.org/smart/faq): Smart supports the following repository formats as source channels: RPM repositories RPM System Database (locally installed packages) APT repositories for .rpm RPM-MD (used by YUM) Red Carpet (used by Ximian/Novell) RPM Header List (used by RedHat and Conectiva installation CDs, probably others) RPM Directory (a directory with a bunch of RPMs in it, no indexing required) URPMI (used by Mandriva) Not sure which one we're using, so I don't know what needs to change. Still investigating.
This is now part of the Smart integration merged to master: http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/poky/commit/?id=019ba25654cd3ae63a6b6c0f2d67da520bf10bc6
