gst-launch -v output

A basic test of video acceleration which normally succeeds now fails:

# gst-launch playbin2 uri="file:///media/sdc/dictator.mp4"

Setting pipeline to PAUSED ...
Pipeline is PREROLLING ...
libva: VA-API version 0.32.0
libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/dri/i965_drv_video.so
libva: va_openDriver() returns 0
gst-launch-0.10: gen6_mfd.c:844: gen6_mfd_avc_ref_idx_state: Assertion `frame_idx < (sizeof(gen6_mfd_context->reference_surface) / sizeof((gen6_mfd_context->reference_surface)[0]))' failed.

Output of -v attached for more details.

I'll try reverting the initial

"gstreamer-vaapi: upgrade to 0.3.8, and remove ffmpeg dependencies"

and the related changes that follow it.

Unless its a simple fix, that's probably the easiest thing to do at this point and defer these changes to 1.4.

Going back to 2.9 makes things work again. This branch worked fine for me with sound and video. It's basically a revert of the 3.8 upgrade, but fixed up because intermediate commits made it not cleanly revert at this point:

http://git.yoctoproject.org/cgit/cgit.cgi/meta-intel-contrib/log/?h=tzanussi/return-to-gst-vaapi-2.9

Just in case we don't have the time to get 3.8 working for 1.3...

Hi, what is the version of your libva components? In particular libva version (not so important), and libva-intel-driver version (the most important one). The latest one is 1.0.17.

Would you mind provide a link to the test video?
Comment 3 Ross Burton 2012-10-30 10:28:35 UTC
Looks like 1.0.15 for both of those.

This is what I suspected. :)
Please upgrade libva-intel-driver to 1.0.16 (at least) because I included some fixes there, including: "Fix and simplify AVC_REF_IDX_STATE setup (ILK, SNB, IVB)"

I recommend you version 1.0.17, which includes another fix for Sandy Bridge.

For sample videos take any video from this site:

Testing the new version of libva-intel-driver to see if it fixes the issue.

After updating the va components as mentioned here, the video plaback is working again on suragbay.

This is not a big deal, but I feel worth mentioning here. Earlier I used to see 0% cpus utilization, now I see 1% cpu utilization at the time of video playback.

And FYI cpu utilization of video playback on ivybridge system is staying at 0%.

A fix for this is in the meta-intel now.
