I've heard that even though FRI2 has 3G / 4G modem capability that we don't actually test it in QA. And I have heard a complaints that the connman support isn't great. We should make sure we test this and add whatever support is needed to make sure it works. In particular because FRI2 is the perfect proof point that M2M is supported well in Yocto Project.
Bug 2415 already covers the technical requirements. Rather than marking this as a duplicate, I'll move it to a QA process bug and assign appropriately. As for testing without the connman UI, I have provided that in an email previously, and will duplicate here for inclusion in the test plan. Note that for M2M usage, the Connman UI is unlikely to be used anyway. Here are my notes using the the AT&T card I have here. There are some gaps where I wasn't able to test as my card is WAP-only (not full IP). Obviously you'll need a different set of arguments for the create-internet-context command. Hopefully this will get you started though: # cd /usr/lib/ofono/test # ./enable-modem # ./online-modem # ./enable-gprs ??? # ./create-internet-context wap.cingular WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM CINGULAR1 # ./activate-context Note: Cannot connect to isp.cingular APN, suggesting this is a WAP-only SIM. Connman will detect usb0 and setup inet and inet6 addresses. DNS works, basic IP does not. Possibly a WAP-only SIM. [ ] Test with a known good Full-GPRS SIM [ ] connman doesn't setup DNS # ifdown usb0 # ifup usb0 [ ] Bringing the modem and context down (deactive/disable*) breaks ofono, it dies with Signal 11 and the commands fail with no ofono .service files root@fri2:/usr/lib/ofono/test# ./list-contexts [ /mbm_0 ] [ /mbm_0/context1 ] Username = WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM Protocol = ip Name = Internet Settings = { Netmask=255.255.255.248 Gateway=10.8.57.130 Method=static DomainNameServers=172.18.7.170, Address=10.8.57.159 } IPv6.Settings = { } Active = 1 AccessPointName = wap.cingular Password = CINGULAR1 Type = internet
Seems that 2415 needs to be implemented in order to test 3g on FRI2.
As https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2415 is on 1.7 M3 this bug will be moved accordingly. Cheers, Ionut C
No updates for https://bugzilla.yoctoproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2415 Moving this to 1.7
Hardware has moved on and this isn't going to happen on FRI2 now.
